Sales and Business Development Consultant - Short-term Insurance (Centurion)
1. Purpose of the Role

To drive new business acquisition and revenue growth in the short-term insurance sector by developing and closing sales opportunities for corporate, commercial, and personal lines insurance. The role focuses on identifying risk exposure and presenting bespoke insurance solutions.

2. Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Target and acquire new clients in commercial lines and personal lines
  • Develop sector-specific sales strategies
  • Generate leads through networking
  • Structure, present, and negotiate competitive insurance proposals and premiums.
  • Achieve monthly and annual new business Brokerage Fees targets.

Client & Portfolio Management

  • Build and manage relationships with key decision-makers
  • Collaborate with insurers and underwriters to secure favourable terms.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing client portfolios
  • Facilitate seamless handover to the Client Services team post-sale.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with FSCA, TCF, and Policyholder Protection Rules (PPRs) for short-term insurance.
  • Maintain meticulous records of quotations, disclosures, and client interactions in the CRM.
  • Adhere to underwriting guidelines

Market Intelligence

  • Stay updated on market trends, including premium hardening, climate risk, and new product offerings
  • Monitor competitor products and pricing strategies.
3. Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Grade 12/Matric.
  • RE 5 and Class of Business (COB) training for Short-term Insurance: Personal & Commercial Lines.
  • FAIS compliant, meeting Fit & Proper requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of short-term insurance sales experience in a brokerage
  • Proven track record in commercial lines sales.
  • In-depth knowledge of policy wordings, endorsements, and claims processes.
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.

Advantageous

  • Diploma or degree in Risk/Insurance or Business.
  • Existing network in the commercial/industrial/Public sectors.
  • Certifications from the Insurance Institute of South Africa.
4. Skills & Competencies
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of short-term insurance covers, exclusions, and underwriting.

Sales & Business Development Consultant - Long-term Insurance (Centurion)
1. Purpose of the Role

To provide expert financial needs analysis and sell long-term insurance and investment products that align with clients’ life goals. The role focuses on building a sustainable book of business through trusted advisor relationships and comprehensive financial planning.

2. Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Prospect and acquire clients for Life Insurance, Disability, Critical Illness, Investment, and Retirement Planning.
  • Target both individual (high-net-worth) and corporate (group risk, pension funds) markets.
  • Conduct detailed Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) to identify protection, savings, and retirement gaps.
  • Develop and present tailored Financial Plans and Proposals.
  • Close sales of life cover, investment policies (endowments, unit trusts), RA’s, and other long-term products.
  • Achieve targets based on APB (Annualised Premium Book) and AUM (Assets Under Management).

Client & Relationship Management

  • Build long-term, multi-generational client relationships based on trust and advice.
  • Implement a systematic review process for existing clients (annual reviews).
  • Work closely with Para-planners and Support Staff to construct financial plans.
  • Identify opportunities for wealth structuring, estate planning, and employee benefits.

Compliance & Administration

  • Full adherence to FSCA, FAIS, FIT & PROPER, and FIC Act
  • Maintain a clear Advice Record for every client interaction, ensuring compliance with the General Code of Conduct.
  • Complete all disclosure documents (ROA, Quote, Letter of Recommendation).
  • Ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) compliance.

Market Intelligence

  • Stay current with tax laws (e.g., changes to retirement fund legislation), product innovations, and fund performance.

Understand competitor product landscapes (life insurers and investment platforms).

3. Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Grade 12/Matric.
  • RE 5 and Class of Business (COB) training for Long-term Insurance:

Categories I, II, IIA, III, & IV.

  • FAIS compliant – must be registered as a Representative
  • Minimum 5 years of proven long-term insurance/financial planning sales experience.
  • Proven track record in building an APB (Annualised Premium Book).
  • In-depth knowledge of life products,
  • Own reliable transport.

Advantageous

  • Degree or Diploma in Financial Planning/BCom Finance.
  • CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designation or progress towards it.
  • Experience with financial planning software
  • Existing, transferable client book (subject to compliance checks).
